Annual Celebration of Cultures
LASOS, Inc sponsored its first Annual Celebration of Cultures on May 15th at the Bel Air Armory. The day was filled with presentations from Forest Lakes jazz Ensemble, Chung's Martial Arts Demo team, Zumba with Pasha and Roye Williams Elementary 4th and 5th grade choirs.
The evening was filled with a Latin Dance with DJ Steve Petty and food sponsored by Local Restaurants.
Summer Camp :
In the summer on 2010, LASOS will offer its first summer camp for non native English speaking children of Harford County.
We have been blessed with financial support for a four week camp to run from July 5th -July 30 by PNC bank, Klein's foundation, and the Dresher Foundation.
Our focus is on "Our Community". The participants will be able to reinforce skills taught throughout the school year while learning about the Bel Air community, as well as their role as a member of our community.
Special thanks to all of our supporters: John Carroll School, Bel Air Police Department, Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department, Klein's Shop Rite, APGFCU, Harford County Public Library, Health Link, David Carey and all of the local businesses in downtown Bel Air.
Upcoming courses:
Mommy and Me classes to begin in the fall. The classes are meant for non English speaking children ages 3-5 and their parents to learn basic English and social skills through finger plays, songs, and crafts. We are very excited about this new opportunity to meet the needs of our youngest members. |
